The Sant'Egidio Community welcomes and presents in these pages the calls for help that have been addressed by prisoners in the death row, their relatives, friends, correspondents and organizations for the respect of human rights. The calls for help are turned into petitions when a date has been assigned for the execution to the condemned, after having reviewed his legal and personal history.
We believe that such petitions can make a difference for those condemned to death, as it happened in the case of Paula Cooper, whose campaign in 1986 came out of America, reached the televisions all over the world, fired the hearts of millions of people about the reasons of life and obtained the commutation of the sentence. For such a reason we support the diffusion of the urgent appeals through the network.
By your signature even you can give an effective contribution to save the life
of a human being.
