With sorrow we report that Jemaine Cannon has been put to death by the State of Oklahoma in McAlester Correctional Facility. For him on these pages so many people had called for a halt to the execution.
We thank everyone who signed the appeal to save Jemaine. Our voices have not been heard but we continue to ask to stop the hand of those states that punish death with death.
We embrace the family members and continue to pray that capital punishment be wiped off the face of the earth.
Jemaine Cannon, was one of two inmates on death row, along with James Barber, 54, also convicted of murder, in Alabama, and scheduled for execution today. He too will be executed by lethal injection, for the first time in the southern U.S. state in a year since Gov.
Kay Ivey issued a temporary moratorium on executions because of problems with the drugs that make up the deadly cocktail.
There have been 14 executions in the United States since the beginning of the year.
